How Donald And Melania Trump’s Relationship Has Changed Since Leaving The White House

While the relationship between the former president and first lady has always been a bit of a mystery, it’s natural to want to know a bit more about Melania and Donald Trump’s marriage. Folks are especially interested considering the fact that Trump is a presidential hopeful once again. While some might argue that the public has never known much about Donald Trump’s third wife, Melania has been even more absent from the public eye since the pair left the White House in 2021.

Trump has returned to the spotlight as a result of his recent indictment for falsifying business records in the alleged coverup of his relationship with Stormy Daniels. This is likely sparking even more questions about the presidential hopeful’s relationship with his wife of nearly 20 years, considering the fact that the pair made a surprising appearance at Mar-a-Lago on March 30, the day of his indictment. For obvious reasons, it’s important for Melania to show the public that she’s supporting her husband during this difficult time, especially considering that the charges against Trump are related to his alleged affair.

Of course, the Trumps’ ability to smile and wave for the cameras in light of some pretty damning events isn’t necessarily indicative of the state of their marriage. Yet, it’s clear that Melania intends to stand by her man as he faces legal trouble and yet another fight for the presidency. But, what exactly has been going on between the two in the interim?

How the indictment is affecting the couple’s relationship

In January 2023, Donald and Melania Trump celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary. Regardless of what’s been going on behind closed doors, these past few anniversaries have likely been better for Melania than the ones before, since she allegedly wasn’t happy as the first lady. A source close to the family shared with CNN, “She’s private, and she’s protective of her son and her home.” Someone who’s particularly private or protective would certainly struggle with her role in her husband’s presidency — especially a presidency like Donald Trump’s.

As the repercussions of Trump’s indictment begin to take shape, Melania reportedly has no interest in “disrupting” her life or getting involved in the drama. A source told People, “Melania is leading her own life, and still feels happy being at Mar-a-Lago, surrounded by people who love her and who never talk about reality or bad things about her husband.” The source added that Melania “remains angry and doesn’t want to hear [the alleged hush money payment] mentioned.”

It’s understandable why Melania would want to take her mind off the accusations leveled against her husband, considering the fact that the extramarital affair allegedly took place in 2006 when the couple’s son, Barron, was just four months old. Unfortunately, pretending that the scandal doesn’t exist doesn’t have the power to make it go away, and the same goes for the looming possibility of another term in office that the former first lady is seemingly dreading.

Melania has been absent during the early parts of Donald’s 2024 campaign

Other than his campaign announcement, Melania has steered clear of any events for Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign. This could be because he blamed her for bad political decisions. In 2022, Maggie Haberman, a reporter for the New York Times and author of “Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America,” tweeted that Trump was “furious” and “blaming everyone who advised him to back [Dr. Mehmet] Oz — including his wife, describing it as not her best decision.”

In an interview with Anderson Cooper, CNN correspondent and author of “Free, Melania: The Unauthorized Biography,” Kate Bennett, explained that the Trumps’ marriage had been “a little chilly” after this incident (via Yahoo!). Bennett added that Melania resents “being in the news” and “doesn’t like her name being attached to the rants and ravings of her husband.” Melania may have already been thinking twice about supporting him in his current presidential campaign, and the indictment can’t be making it seem more appealing. Bennett believes that Melania doesn’t have “any intention of being on the campaign trail.”

A source close to the Trumps told CNN that Melania “has always considered what Donald does to be separate from her. Decisions he makes about his business are his decisions, not hers.” Even so, it seems that things aren’t perfect between the pair, and the circumstances are only getting tougher.

Stanford students develop AR glasses that let you talk to ChatGPT in real time

AR glassImage credit- Bryan Hau-Ping Chiang (Twitter)

1.Stanford students have created RizzGPT, a tool that combines AI and augmented reality to aid individuals during challenging conversations.

2. The tool uses GPT-4 and Whisper to generate responses to questions asked during a conversation, which can be displayed through AR glasses with a monocle.

3. This technology can have applications for people with social anxiety, public speaking, job interviews, and more.

If you thought that the arrival of GPT-4 was the pinnacle of excitement in the world of artificial intelligence, then recent news may challenge that belief. While we are familiar with using OpenAI’s chatbot in its most basic form, upcoming plugins and APIs provided by the company will enable users to interact with ChatGPT through smart glasses. Stanford students have already accomplished this feat, demonstrating this technology’s potential.

A group of Stanford University students, including Bryan Hau-Ping Chiang, Varun Shenoy, Alix Cui, and Adriano Hernandez, have developed a tool called RizzGPT that utilizes AI and augmented reality (AR) to assist individuals during difficult conversations.

The tool leverages GPT-4 language model and Whisper, an OpenAI voice recognition tool, to generate responses to questions asked during the conversation.

The generated response can be displayed by wearing AR glasses with a monocle as if the individual came up with it themselves. The team has named this technology ‘real-time Charisma as a Service (CaaS)’ and believes it has many potential applications, including helping people with social anxiety, public speaking, and job interviews.

How do glasses work with ChatGPT?

Whisper’s AI-based speech recognition is utilized by rizzGPT to listen to conversations and generate appropriate responses based on the context. This technology empowers rizzGPT to assist people in overcoming social anxiety, public speaking, and preparing for job interviews, among other things.

The ChatGPT glasses were created using Brilliant Labs’ Monocle AR technology, which offers numerous potential applications and exemplifies how AI and AR can be combined to tackle real-world problems. It will be intriguing to observe how this technology evolves and its impact on society in the future.

A top AI researcher reportedly left Google for OpenAI after sharing concerns the company was training Bard on ChatGPT data

A number of former employees left Sundar Pichai’s (left) Google for Sam Altman’s (right) OpenAI.Ramin Talaie/Getty Images and Steve Jennings/Getty Images for TechCrunch

A top Google researcher resigned after warning execs that Bard was trained off ChatGPT, per The Information.

A Google spokesperson told The Verge that Bard is not trained on data from ChatGPT.

Top Google AI researcher Jacob Devlin resigned earlier this year after he warned Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai and other top executives that the company’s ChatGPT competitor, Bard, was being trained on data from OpenAI’s chatbot, according to a recent report from The Information.

The publication cited a source with direct knowledge of the issue, as well as another individual who had been briefed on it. Spokespeople for Google and OpenAI did not respond to a request for comment ahead of publication. But a spokesperson for Google appeared to deny the report in a comment to The Verge.

“Bard is not trained on any data from ShareGPT or ChatGPT,” the spokesperson told The Verge.

According to The Information, Devlin told the executives that he believed the team working on Bard was using information from ShareGPT, a platform on which users publish exchanges they’ve had with ChatGPT. The publication said that Devlin warned executives that by training on ChatGPT conversations, Bard could end up sounding too similar to OpenAI’s chatbot.

The researcher, as well as other Google staff, also felt that it was a violation of OpenAI’s terms of services, according to The Information.

One person told The Information that Google stopped using the data to train Bard after Devlin warned executives about the issue.

Shortly after leaving Google in January, Devlin joined OpenAI. Insider previously reported that Devlin was one of several AI researchers to leave Google at the beginning of the year for competitors.

Devlin, who was at Google for over five years, was the lead author of a 2018 research paper on training machine learning models for search accuracy that helped initiate the AI boom. His research has since become a part of both Google and OpenAI’s language models, Insider and The Information reported.

OpenAI has hired dozens of former Alphabet staff over the years. Since the company’s

chatbot made headlines in November for its ability to do anything from write an essay to provide basic code, Google and OpenAI have been locked in an AI arms race.

Earlier this month, Google released Bard to a select group of users in the US and UK. But Google’s haste to catch up with OpenAI hasn’t stopped there. The Information reported that Alphabet’s two AI teams, DeepMind and Google Brain, have joined forces to better compete with OpenAI.

Foods You’ll Never Eat Again After You Know The Ingredients

The food market continues to expand at an accelerated rate, with manufacturers and brands adding new products every day. Business is booming, with grocery store sales having more than doubled in the last 30 years in the US alone.

Consumers love to consume products that are tasty and cost-effective, but have we ever stopped to look behind the veil and investigate exactly what’s in our foods? From beaver butt secretion to sheep sebum in our chewing gum, there’s a lot out there that you won’t find advertised at Walmart.

1. Canned Mushrooms

Company: Various
Market Share: $8 billion*
Ingredient: Maggots and mites

Let’s face it, mushrooms grow from the ground. They’re literally fungi that happen to taste delicious, but all isn’t exactly as it seems when it comes to canned mushrooms. It’s not so much about the mushrooms themselves, but what else is allowed in the can with them.

FDA guidelines actually allow a certain number of maggots into the cans. Around 30 maggots per can are actually deemed safe by the organization, as are 75 mites. That’s not to say that the ones you picked up at Target actually have any in, but it’s a bit worrying to think it’s legally allowed.

2. Packaged Meat

Company: Walmart and others
Market Share: $320 billion*
Ingredient: Carbon monoxide

Busy families often pick up a ton of packaged meat during shopping trips. A pound of ground beef can make a couple of meals and it’s a cost-effective way to make sure everyone gets fed. However, even if you buy top-quality meat, you could be consuming something more than protein.

Meat plants actually use carbon monoxide as it helps meat keep that red color that it wouldn’t usually after being out in the air. Granted, it’s a small amount and doesn’t impact the taste, but it’s actually a double-edged sword. Even if the meat has gone bad, it will keep the same color, so you might want to be extra careful when browsing the shelves at stores like Costco in the future.

3. Artificial Sweetener

Company: Splenda, Sweet ‘n Low
Market Share: $12 billion by 2032*
Ingredient: Aspartame

Aspartame has long been revealed to not be the calorie-free sweetener we all thought it was. As it turns out, artificial sweeteners can cause a lot of problems. According to the U.S. Right to Know, there are dozens of possible health ramifications tied to the same sweetener found in “diet” soda.

According to the USRTK, health risks include cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, stroke, cardiovascular disease, mood disorders, headaches, migraines, and more. Though some people might order a diet drink to try to lose weight, evidence suggests that it could have the opposite effect. We think we’ll just stick to water, next time.

4. Mayonnaise

Company: Hellmans, Heinz, and more
Market Share: $8.285 billion*
Ingredient: Fat

The Times of India said that mayonnaise is one of the “unhealthiest foods you can eat.” Though mayo is a delicious condiment, assuming you’re not one of the vocal minority of people who hate it, there’s no denying that it is loaded with fat and calories. True, the fat is what makes it delicious, but a diet too high in anything can cause issues.

Food Network had good news for people who love mayo. You don’t have to “ban it for life,” and it can be part of a healthy lifestyle, as long as you eat it in “very small amounts.” There are also light and reduced-fat brands available on supermarket shelves, too.

5. Chewing Gum

Company: Wrigleys and others
Market Share: $32.63 billion*
Ingredient: Lanolin or sebum

Chewing gum has been around for years. Some think it’s a filthy habit, but if they knew exactly what was in it, they might think it’s even worse. In order to make the gum nice and chewy and give it that famous texture, companies often use lanolin.

Lanolin may sound harmless, but it’s actually something that oozes from sheep wool. The human equivalent of this is sebum, which is basically a type of oil that comes out of our pores. So, next time you buy a bumper pack of gum from Amazon to tide you over, it’s worth pausing and remembering exactly what you’re putting in your mouth.

6. Frozen Meals

Company: Swanson’s and more
Market Share: $55.8 billion*
Ingredient: Sodium, fat, and calories

Frozen dinners are very convenient, and it makes sense why they’re a favorite of a lot of Americans. After you come home from a long day, all you have to do is pop the meal into the microwave, wait a little bit, and then you can eat something that would have taken way longer to actually cook.

But, frozen dinners have their downsides. They are filled with fat, calories, and sodium—three things you want to keep in moderation. If you still want frozen meals, WebMD recommends sticking to lighter dinners from brands like Smart ones, Lean Cuisine, and Healthy Choice.

7. Dates

Company: Various
Market Share: $21.5 billion by 2029*
Ingredient: Fruit flies

Many people really love dates and eat them in place of candy, but would they be so keen to do so if they knew that ten insects and 35 fruit fly eggs per ounce are totally okay to be sold to you with the dates?

It’s not something many people know. Raisins and other fruit of that ilk are held to the same standard, so if this is something you’re into, just know you’re probably getting a little added protein in with your fruity snack. Bear Grylls would be proud.

8. Bacon

Company: Applegate, Market Pantry, and more
Market Share: $65.27 billion*
Ingredient: Cholesterol

Bacon is amazing, we all know that, but we’re lying to ourselves if we think it’s in any way, shape, or form healthy. Bacon might be the perfect addition to a breakfast of eggs or a sandwich (or just eaten by itself), but it is high in cholesterol. According to WebMD, the bastion of all things medical-related, each ounce of bacon has 30 milligrams of cholesterol.

If you’re eating bacon and eggs, you’re getting a double dose. Bacon is also rich in saturated fat, which means that it can raise cholesterol levels that way, too. The serving size of bacon is small, but it’s not advised that you pile it on every day. Sadly.

9. Packaged Bread

Company: Grupo Bimbo and others
Market Share: $42.4 billion*
Ingredient: L-cysteine

There was a time (albeit many moons ago) when sliced bread was just a dream. People had to bake their own or buy straight from the baker, but these days it’s a common household item. However, there’s a reason why freshly-baked bread only lasts a couple of days when packaged bread can last weeks.

It’s all down to L-cysteine, which isn’t just any old regular preservative. The compound is natural, but that doesn’t make it any better. It’s actually derived from human hair. According to Disney’s Vice, the most popular source for this is hair salons in China. Hair is swept up, dissolved in acid, the L-cysteine is removed, and away it goes to bakeries to go into bread.

10. Chocolate Bars

Company: Mars and others
Market Share: $114 billion total chocolate market*
Ingredient: Insect legs

We have to apologize in advance, but nothing is sacred these days. Chocolate is something most of us enjoy in hearty amounts, which is why it’s such a beloved snack food. Even chocolate isn’t safe from contamination though apparently.

Guidelines state that chocolate bars usually have around eight insect legs inside on average, while still passing inspection. Next time you get a crunchy bar, take a minute and think about what’s giving it that texture. Is it nuts, is it caramel, or is it a beetle that came along for the ride and died from misadventure?

Kolkata man becomes world’s first victim of ‘killer’ plant fungus; Here’s all you need to know

The doctors conducted a chest X-ray which came back ‘normal’. However, a CT scan of his neck showed a paratracheal abscess in his neck.

In a shocking incident, a man has become the world’s first victim of a deadly fungal infection caused by plants. This 61-year-old man, a Kolkata resident, has demonstrated evidence of a crossover of plant pathogens into humans when working in close contact with plant fungi.

According to media reports, the man is a plant mycologist and he visited the outpatient department of Consultant Apollo Multispeciality Hospital in Kolkata with complaints of cough, hoarseness of voice, recurrent pharyngitis, fatigue, difficulty in swallowing, sore throat, and anorexia for three months.

The doctors have submitted these findings to the journal Medical Mycology Case Reports.

According to the doctors, the man had no history of HIV infection, renal disease, or any chronic disease. He was also neither consuming any immunosuppressive drug nor suffering from any trauma.

The doctors conducted a chest X-ray which came back ‘normal’. However, a CT scan of his neck showed a paratracheal abscess in his neck. The doctors drained the pus a sent a sample for testing to the “WHO Collaborating Centre for Reference & Research on Fungi of Medical Importance”, where he was diagnosed with Chondrostereum purpureum.

Chondrostereum purpureum is a fungus plant pathogen. It is commonly known as “violet fungus” and can cause infections in humans. The report also revealed that the identity of this unusual can only be revealed through sequencing.

“This case highlights the potential of environmental plant fungi to cause disease in humans and stresses the importance of molecular techniques to identify the causative fungal species,” it said.

Musk’s AI letter is a ‘hot mess’ of hype, critics say

A letter signed by Elon Musk and hundreds of experts calling for a pause in the development of artificial intelligence is a “hot mess” of “AI hype” that even misrepresents an academic paper, critics say.

Billionaire Tesla boss Musk and other luminaries wrote that “AI systems with human-competitive intelligence can pose profound risks to society and humanity”.

But Timnit Gebru, whose academic paper was cited to support that claim, wrote on Twitter on Thursday that her article actually warns against making such inflated claims about AI.

“They basically say the opposite of what we say and cite our paper,” she wrote.

Her co-author Emily Bender said the letter was a “hot mess” and was “just dripping with AI hype”.

The risks of AI, she wrote, were never about AI being “too powerful” but rather they were “about concentration of power in the hands of people, about reproducing systems of oppression, about damage to the information ecosystem”.

The open letter, published on Wednesday on the website of the Musk-funded Future of Life Institute, called for a six-month pause in development of powerful AI systems.

The signatories, who included academics and tech titans like Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, argued that the pause should be used to bolster regulation and ensure the systems were safe.

‘Silly distraction’

However, just hours after the letter was published, signatory Emad Mostaque, boss of British start-up Stability AI, had backed away from one of its central demands.

I don’t think a six-month pause is the best idea.

He said, though, that there were “some interesting things” in the letter and it would help spark a debate.

Another signatory, psychology professor Gary Marcus, spent much of the day battling on Twitter with critics including computer science academic Nick Holliman, who accused him of taking part in a “silly distraction”.

“I have repeatedly argued… that we must be concerned with how existing systems perpetuate past bias,” he wrote after one user suggested the letter was signed by “white men” unconcerned with the current problems caused by algorithms.

Big tech companies like Google, Meta and Microsoft have spent years working on AI systems – previously known as machine learning or big data – to help with translations, search and targeted advertising.

But late last year San Francisco firm OpenAI supercharged the interest in AI when it launched ChatGPT, a bot that can generate screeds of natural language text from a short prompt.

OpenAI earlier this month unveiled GPT-4, a more powerful version of its chatbot, prompting the open letter from Musk and more than 1 000 experts.
