
From the beginning of the fight, Benavidez took control and landed several heavy blows on Plant. He consistently pushed forward, throwing powerful combinations and landing punches to Plant’s head and body. Despite his efforts, Plant struggled to keep up with Benavidez’s speed and power, and was often forced to retreat.
In the later rounds, Plant began to show some signs of life, landing a few solid punches on Benavidez. However, it was not enough to turn the tide of the fight, as Benavidez continued to dominate until the final bell.
When the fight went to the judges’ scorecards, all three judges awarded the victory to Benavidez, with scores of 118-109, 117-110, and 116-111. With the win, Benavidez retained his WBC super middleweight title.
After the fight, Benavidez called out Canelo Alvarez, expressing his desire to face the Mexican superstar in the ring. Alvarez, who currently holds the WBA, WBC, and WBO super middleweight titles, has not responded to Benavidez’s challenge as of yet.
